Meet Toast! Toast is a 70 pound 2 year old plotthound with a gorgeous brindle coat. Toast is super sweet and friendly. She has lived with kids and other dogs. No small children though. Toast loves nothing more than to curl up on the couch with you. She does well in the car . She's also perfectly potty trained and is fine in a crate. He knows go home for his crate, sit and no when he tries to go somewhere he shouldn’t. He is very playful with other dogs of all ages. He can be timid around new adults, but warms up rather quickly!

About Me

Honey is a gorgeous 3 month old male Chocolate Terrier mix. He was found as a stray in Louisiana and hitched a ride up to Maryland to find his furever family. He is working on perfecting his potty training and is crate trained. Honey is dog friendly and doesn’t try to chase the chickens or ducks his foster parents have so he would most likely be ok with cats. He loves playing with his foster siblings then crashing next to you on the couch for a nap.

About Me

Meet Adam! He is a 14 week old mix breed. He is one of the sweetest and easiest puppies out there. He is mostly potty trained and does well in his crate. At his foster home he has been exposed to other dogs, cats, and children and he does great with all three. He has normal puppy energy but will never complain about curling up for a nap with you. He does have a heart murmur, but he went to the cardiologist and his echo showed that it is just a benign puppy murmur and should not impact his future!

Koa

About Me

Meet Koa!!! This boy is an absolute gem! He is a 10 month old, 62lb (pretty much full grown), Hound mix. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, completely house-trained, and microchipped. Koa is dog friendly (takes a moment to warm up)— loves to run around the backyard with his current foster brothers but can also be very independent. He has lived with cats and is uninterested in them. The crate is not his favorite place to be but he does eventually settle especially with a (safe) yummy treat. He walks well on a leash and is great in the car! Koa loves toys, the squeakier the better!! He is one of the calmest puppies we’ve ever fostered. He sleeps through the night (out of the crate) and has been trustworthy. He settles easily and is happy to be hanging on the couch watching TV with you. He is a fantastically sweet and loving boy and any family would be very lucky to adopt him. St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and Koa is definitely the pot of gold!!

Hi — I’m Tawny!! I’m a female 9 month old Black Mouth Cur/Shepherd mix. Just came up North and am hanging with my Foster family until I meet my “Forever”. I still need to be spayed but that is financially taken care of by the Rescue. I love other dogs and would do very well in a family with another dog. Boy, do I love to eat which my Foster Mom said is great for training— yum yum yum! I’m still working on my potty training but am definitely getting the hang of it— going to the door when I need to go. I do well in the crate — just give me something yummy (and safe) to chew on. I still have a lot of puppy sillies in me so will need an active family/person to help me burn that energy. Above all though, I just want to LOVE! I want to be with you, and snuggle, and hug (yes, she hugs ), and smother you with kisses. About Me

Meet Axel(M) Anastasia (F) and Aspen (M). These 3 puppies are 11 weeks old and are ready to go to their forever homes! They are crate trained and working on potty training. They are expected to be medium sized when full grown. Axel: Axel is the most independent of the 3 pups. He does well with other dogs but is perfectly fine to go exploring on his own. While he is crate trained, he is not the biggest fan of the crate. Anastasia: Anastasia is the smallest of the three and has the most spunk. When she isn’t wrestling with her brothers she likes to be in your lap covering you with kisses. Aspen: Aspen is a bit more cautious than his siblings. He is happy to explore and experience new things, but he likes to have another pup by his side. He likes humans but he especially loves other dogs.

With those sweet eyes and that perfect heart-shapes nose, she is irresistible! When she was pulled from the shelter in mid-December she was emaciated to the point of only being 9 pounds. She's treat motivated and eager to learn. About Me

Winston: 3 year old Rottweiler/American Pit Bull Terrier mix. Neutered and UTD on shots. 80lbs Winston's original owners bought him in a trailer park from an "American Bulldog" breeder. He was bought during covid so a mix of bad breeding and lack of socialization led to some fear issues. He came to me last May and learned how overcome those issues. His owners were elderly and tried their best to keep up with the training but then decided it was too much for them. Winstons only issue was acting scary when someone he didn't know spooked him. After almost a year of training with me he has made almost a complete 180. He now loves people cause he learned people = food and cuddles. There will still occasionally be a person that he is unsure of so his new owner will need to learn how to read his signals and advocate for his space when he is uncomfortable. Winston knows who he can trust to keep him safe and who he can't. Winston is a love bug. He is good with dogs, cats, and humans as long as you read him and make sure introductions are positive and not forced.

About Me

Canelo (English -cinnamon) is a one-year-old beautiful male husky who is super sweet with all humans and very playful. He has been around many children of different ages and does amazing. His previous family could no longer keep him due to a separation. Canelo loves and does very well around the female dogs (males unknown) in his foster home. He will not do well on a farm, he gets highly excited around the farm animals and has killed chickens. Canelo loves the outdoors. He loves to run so a fenced yard is preferred but he is content on a long lead where he can still roam the yard. He does not like to be confined in small spaces. He would prefer to be in a home with another dog or an active family. Canelo is an amazing family dog for the right someone who is willing to provide him with lots of love, time, and space…..and he is very handsome.

My name is Charlie. I am around 1 year old. My foster parents think I have beagle and greyhound in me. I'm not going to get any bigger but I will fill out. Faith is a small mixed-breed dog between 7-10 months old. Currently weighing around 27 pounds. It did take her a while to warm up to me after her trip here from the shelter, but once she learned that she could trust me, she hasn't looked back. She loves to snuggle and give kisses. She has two larger dogs that she plays with nonstop. If she isn't taking a nap, they are playing together. She loves to run and boy is she quick! I feel a fenced-in yard or a very large yard would be best for her. We currently have her on the 26-foot retractable leash and she wants to run further than that will allow. Faith is also crate and potty-trained. She will sit facing the door, and if you don't see her, she has no problem giving you a small bark to get your attention. Meet Kit!! This sweet girl is an 11 month old, 27lb, stunning pittie mix. She is up to date on vaccines, spayed, and microchipped. Kit loves other dogs and would do very well in a family with another dog. She is working on her potty training but almost has the hang of it. She does well in the crate — just give her something yummy (and safe) to chew on. Kit has a lot of puppy sillies and just loves people. She gives the best kisses and loves to show off her happy “wiggle butts”. She does well on a leash and enjoys walks. Great in the car! Stuffy squeaky toys are her jam!! She grabs as many as she can and surrounds herself with them-beaming with pride! But above all — how adorable is she?! That face?!! Those ears can pick up Satellite Radio!!! Patty, also known as Patty cakes, is a 1 year old boxer mix weighing in at around 25 lbs. Patty is spayed and ready for her furever family. She is house and crate trained and practicing her leash manners daily. Patty is especially fearful of small children, so a family with no little people is best. This lovable girl will need a patient family willing to help her get comfortable with her surroundings. Patty’s ideal home would have a fenced yard and another playful dog(s) for her to romp and play with. Once she is comfortable she loves to run and play. Meet Champ!! 3 month old terrier mix. Champ… Although Champ is little, he has a big personality. He enjoys the company of other dogs and is cautiously learning about cats. He is doing well on his potty training but still has a occasional accident when too busy playing. Champ can be a little nippy when over excited so homes with older children would be recommended. Champ loves his people but takes time to get to know them. He can worry a bit. Trust me he warms up and gets very sweet. Meet Lance a shy but lovable 9 month old Terrier Boxer mix. Lance is very mild mannered and scares easily so small children are not a good fit for him. He gets along well with other dogs and loves to play once he is comfortable with them. He has only had 1 potty accident in the house and that was when the fosters grandchildren (6 & 4) were visiting and running wildly like children do. Lance is learning how to walk on a leash, something he didn’t have much experience with. He is very food motivated so training should be a breeze. She has a very sweet temperament with both people and other dogs although can be a bit of a diva. This little cutie patootie is Fern! Fern is an approximately 1.5 year old, 15 ish pound Boston Terrier pulled from a hoarding situation in WV. Fern will be spayed before adoption. Fern is a super sweet girl who just loves people. She seems to get especially attached to one person in the home (right now it’s her foster mom) and becomes their shadow. She is very cuddly. Fern would prefer to be the only dog in your home, but she’s done absolutely fine with the cat in her foster home. Fern is doing really well on housebreaking. She is not a huge fan of the crate, but usually quiets down after some heavy protesting. Fern would love to be your forever sidekick!

Greetings from Trevor! Trevor is around 5-6 months, a hound-mix, weighing in at around 20lbs. Trevor came to us about a week ago, very nervous, timid and unsure of people. His foster mom has been working to earn his trust and teach him how to embrace human love. Despite his skepticism, Trevor is ALWAYS a happy boy when he sees his foster mom come back home. He has grown to accept butt scritches, offer play nibbles even started to cuddle around his foster mom! Speaking of cuddling!!! Trevor is a huge cuddle bug with all the dogs who will allow him to curl up on and around them. He LOVES other dogs and has allowed them to teach him routines. Trevor is gradually getting better at his potty habits, thanks to the guidance of the other pups in the household! This pup is always happy and always looking for the next adventure to explore. He’s also not afraid to use his big boy hound bark in hopes of getting attention or getting his way! Trevor has shown no signs of resource guarding and shares the toys very well with all the other pups. Meet William!! He is a 3-4 yr old beagle mix. He may not look all beagle but he definitely has the nose to be one. William is one of the most loving and loyal dogs you will ever meet. He is working on potty training and starting to like his crate. William gets along with adults and children as well as all of his fosters pets. Meet Gabby a sweet and lovable spayed Boston terrier. Gabby is around 18 months to 2 years old and weighs 24 lbs. She is mostly house broken but has an occasional accident. Her foster family has not figured out her signal that she needs to go out yet. Gabby does pretty well on a leash but could use some more training. She knows sit, stay, bed. She walks into her crate when told to. She sleeps all night without a peep in her crate. For the most part Gabby gets along with the dogs in her foster home. She has been aggressive toward the little chiweenie(chihuahua/dachshund mix) a couple times. Usually because she has gotten near her foster mom, who she is already very attached to. We are working with her to help her understand this is unacceptable behavior. For this reason and because of the hoarding situation she came from, she may be better as an only dog. Spuds is still working on house training and leash walking but does well in a crate. What’s up, my hoomans? I’m Kelsey! I like to identify as a petite baby land seal, weighing in at about 45lbs. Though, my foster mom calls me her house motorcycle. She says I snores when I’m asleep and I snorts when I’m awake! I say.. not my problem, I’m a princess  I’ve been ruling this place called Earth for somewhere around a year? My stomping grounds reside in Louisiana, where I was found as a stray after being hit by a vehicle and left. Through physical therapy, I’ve battled my way back from tough injuries, including a broken pelvis, like all resilient land seals usually do. Despite the unfortunate hand I was dealt, I refuse to let anything get me down! My foster mom has 3 other home dawgs at the house that I LOVE to play with. Meet Journey! She is a 2 year old, 23 lb petite terrier mix. She made the long trek from Louisiana two months ago with a positive HW diagnosis and fresh hip (FHO) surgery. She has spent the last 30 days recovering from her treatment and will be available for adoption next weekend (4/22) pending a follow-up heartworm test. She has been a joy to have since day 1, getting along with her older foster brothers and being completely house and crate trained. She is a low rider so perhaps not the best trail hiker but loves to play with bones, stuffies and balls and is the absolute best couch cuddler you could ask for. She has done wonderful putting weight on all fours while walking but will pick up her ‘special’ leg when she gets excited and runs which has become an endearing characteristic. Alta is the sweetest 2-year-old beagle mix you could ever meet. She came to the rescue in 2021 with her 6 puppies. She was adopted but recently returned because her family could no longer care for her. Alta originally came into the rescue as Heartworm (HW) and Lyme positive but received treatment and is now HW negative. She will need to be kept on HW preventative for the remainder of her life. She has continued to test positive for Lyme disease but is not displaying any symptoms. Alta is house and crate trained. She walks well on a leash but that beagle nose makes her stubborn at times. If something catches her eye or nose, she will go after it. The person at the end of her leash needs to be prepared or could easily be knocked off their feet. Alta loves other dogs and children. She is very interested in the cats in her foster home but so far has not shown any aggression toward them. Alta’s favorite pass time is sitting on your lap getting pets. He is working on his house manners but hasn’t completely mastered going potty outside yet. He does use pee pads inside though. He hates his crate and cries at night but we are still working on that and there has been improvement. He has some separation anxiety and is slow to warm up to strangers. It is best to approach slowly or let CJ do the approaching. He is not particularly fond of small children, he growls when they come near him. They jump around too much and scare him. Meet Hank!!! Aka Hank the Tank, Hanky Panky, and Stanky Hanky. Hank is a 13 week old Hound mix - any other guesses? He arrived in Maryland last week from Louisiana. Meet Dixie, a stunning beagle/chihuahua/maybe dachshund mix weighing in at 26 lbs. She has a loving and very sweet temperament. She loves everyone she meets especially small children. Dixie is approximately 2 years old and is spayed, housebroken and crate trained. Once Dixie gets settled and comfy in her new environment she is very playful and attaches herself quickly to her caregiver. She is truly a lap dog! Dixie came to the rescue with an old injury to her left rear leg. The injury has healed but left her with a limp. She was taken to the rescues vet who determined she was not in any pain and could function fine without further treatment. Dixie gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home, always running and playing with them. She does, however want to be the dominant pouch. She is very curious about the cats in her foster home but just sniffs them and walks away. Dixie listens well but is very food motivated and has to be fed separately from the other dogs because she tries to eat everyone’s food. Dixie walks very well on a leash and will be an exceptional family pet. She is very smart and loves working for treats. She doesnt like other dogs so much but can respect their space pretty well. She will do best as an only dog. She is a puller so she is learning how to walk nicely on a leash. Willow would make a great hiking partner or dog for an active individual.

This sweet girl is Nikki, a 50 lb. medium-sized, brindle beauty mountain cur mix. Nikki came from Louisiana with her puppies, and now she is ready to find her forever home. Nikki has the sweetest eyes and disposition, but she is still learning to trust the world around her. She has come a long way in her short time with DDDR, building confidence and learning she is safe, but she is still very shy and reserved. Nikki really enjoys the company of the other dogs in her foster home and has learned so much from them already- playtime is the best, treats are delicious, and snuggling during naps on the giant dog bed is super comfy. The pack has certainly helped her come out of her shell and she will be a great companion dog. Nikki is house and crate trained and uses her crate occasionally as her safe spot. She is very comfortable around children, however, cats are unknown. Nikki is an amazing girl who gives the sweetest kisses- she just needs to be given the chance to shine.

Hi there! My name is Pepper  and all I want for Christmas is a family! I am a pure bred good girl and a professional cuddle buddy. My favorite thing to do is take a nap on top of my foster. If you are in the floor (or anywhere) I see it as a lovely invitation to come snuggle up with you as close as possible. But don’t get me wrong, I also love to play! My favorite toys are benebones. I can chew on those for a while. I also like to play tug and chase a ball. I am a textbook good dog and will make a great family pet or even a best friend/adventure buddy for someone that lives alone. I will probably grow up to be a medium to large size dog (Terrier mix) so keep that in mind. I like to jump! About Me

Say hello to Kento! Foster mom affectionately calls him Pinto Bean, however. Kento is a sweet 7-month old mixed breed pup, approximately 40lbs. Unfortunately, up until about a month ago, Kento has spent his life inside the four walls of a garage with little socialization with the outside world. So naturally, lots of aspects of the world has been a scary experience for this innocent boy. Despite his limited experience in the outside world, Kento LOVES dogs! He currently lives with 2 other dogs, and has met a ton others. He absolutely loves to play, hasn’t shown any signs of resource guarding with toys or food, but also loves a good lap cuddle! Kento has learned to love what life is like living as a normal dog. He does take some time warming up to new people, however, as one on one time is the most efficient way in gaining his trust and affection. He has best friend material written all over him, and even smiles when his foster mom calls him handsome! Kento is still learning his manners inside of a house with regards to his potty training, but he’s progressing well! This handsome boy would love nothing more than to continue falling in love with life with his forever family by his side

Meet Mocha! This 5 month old mix (coonhound maybe?) is as sweet as can be. She’s a gentle, clumsy goofball, and you cannot help but love her big brown eyes (she has mastered the sad look). Mocha is crate trained and willingly goes to her crate when she is tired, but will also gladly snuggle against you if it’s an option. She is doing wonderfully with house training and leash walking. Kobe: 8 month old Labrador Retriever Neutered and UTD on vaccines. Kobe completed a 4 week basic obedience program with me and did very well. He knows sit, wait, heel, down, place, and come. Due to unexpected life changes, his owners had to make the difficult decision to rehome him. He is good with dogs(though he plays rough), has done well around my cat, and loves all humans. He is very high energy so I would like to see him go to an active home and maybe even get involved in a sport.

This beautiful dog goddess is Sassy! Pictures certainly don’t suffice with how gorgeous this girl truly is! And this girl is just as sweet as her beauty! Sassy is said to be around 2.5 years old. She looks to be an Aussie Shepherd her foster momma believes. She’s a little timid when new people walk toward her but warms up quickly! After a few short days, Sassy quickly declared to her foster momma that her Love Language is physical touch! She absolutely loves physical affection and she’s not afraid to climb all over you and demand all your love. Sassy has been living with two other dogs at her foster home and she does well with them. She hasn’t completely submerged into playing with them, but she does watch them play as she sits by her foster mom’s side. Sassy is typically a very happy girl! She’s always wagging her tail and she loves being outside. She’s very playful and loves to play tug! She’s been great with kids and would truly fit into just about any household! We are unsure how she is with cats, however. But we DO know that this fluffy beauty would love to grow into your best friend!

Toby is believed to be a Catahoula mix. He is a handsome, young, under 2 according to the vet, Brindle colored boy. He is crate-trained and leash-trained. He is dog selective but with a little patience and a slow introduction he does very well. He was heartworm positive but has been through treatment for it in addition to being neutered. He is energetic and very playful. He loves challenging toys, treats, exploring new places, and enjoys attention. He will be the perfect furbaby for someone who has time to allow him to adjust slowly to his new home.

About Me

This boy is a GEM!! Meet Max! Max is an approximately 1.5 year old neutered retriever mix from WV. Max only weighs around 45 lbs now but could definitely stand to gain a few! Max is already neutered and housebroken! Max is a little anxious around new people and new situations, but once he warms up he is a huge snuggle bug! He tries to lay in your lap he wants to be so close to his person. Max is not a huge fan of the crate due to some past bad experiences, but after a little bit of protesting he settles down well. With some time and making sure he knows the crate is a nice space, he should do fine. Max is a medium energy guy, he very much enjoys playing with the dogs in his foster home, but he will definitely settle for a cuddle and a movie too. He’s also been friendly with the cat in his foster home. He did try to play with her, but there was no aggression, and he backed off right away after a little slap. Max is an absolutely gorgeous dog, and just the bestest boy. Any family would be lucky to add this guy to your home!

Hi I'm Augusta, an approximately 13 week old mixed breed female. I'm sweet and sassy. Definitely the alpha to my brother's beta. I thump him when he needs it and even more when he doesn't  I love to snuggle with my foster family. I like to play with the Golden Retriever puppy that comes to visit but those big dogs can stay on their side of the house until I'm bigger. When everyone is home and they take me out every 2 hours I do great with potty time. I am pretty good with the puppy pads too though. I don't mind sleeping in my crate and normally make it 6 hours with no accidents at night. I stay close when outside and come when called.
