Beth is an approximately 3 year old, 15lbs, wire-haired Chiweenie from WV who came to us pregnant, then gave birth to 6 healthy puppies. Beth is the absolute best mother that any puppy could hope for. She even mothers all of the other foster puppies. Beth can be a bit shy at first, she's terrified of loud noises, but once she gets to know you, she is a total love bug. Her favorite thing is to cuddle in her foster mother's lap.Beth has a few heart conditions that make her special. Despite these conditions, she currently does not need any medication. Beths cardiologist is happy to go over her diagnosis with a potential adopter. At this time, her only “need” will be periodic bloodwork to make sure that her heart is still working as it should. Due to these heart conditions, anesthesia is not recommended. Therefore, Beth has not been spayed. Pip is looking for a loving family to give him the life he deserves. He is a young 7 years old in Italian Greyhound years. (They are known to live into their late teens!) He weighs 11 lbs, was recently neutered and is on a special soft diet, due to having only his canine teeth remaining.Pip’s life hasn’t been easy—he was used as a breeding dog, malnourished, and confined in a small pen on wood chips! Despite his isolation and lack of basic care and comfort, this little guy is full of love for humans and eager to learn. He needs a home with another small dog/s for companionship and confidence. He is learning so much from his foster siblings. Snuggling with them has become one of his favorite activities.
Pip is a delicate boy and can get spooked easily. He will do best in a home without small children and large dogs. The ideal home for Pip is one where someone is home most of the day to help him continue his house training, and make up for the years of loneliness he endured. While he currently wears a male belly band diaper, he is making progress every day. He will not poop on a leash, and should not be outside for long periods in cold weather, so a fenced yard is a must. Pip gets very excited about treats and walks, but he’s basically a couch potato.

Meet “smiley” Kylee!!! This sweet girl is a high spirited love bug. She is a 1yr old, 40lb-ish (still needs to gain a bit more weight) Hound/Lab/Pointer mix. Meet Dixie, a stunning beagle/chihuahua/maybe dachshund mix weighing in at 26 lbs. She has a loving and very sweet temperament. She loves everyone she meets especially small children. Dixie is approximately 2 years old and is spayed, housebroken and crate trained. Once Dixie gets settled and comfy in her new environment she is very playful and attaches herself quickly to her caregiver. She is truly a lap dog! Dixie came to the rescue with an old injury to her left rear leg. The injury has healed but left her with a limp. She was taken to the rescues vet who determined she was not in any pain and could function fine without further treatment. Dixie gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home, always running and playing with them. She does, however want to be the dominant pouch. She is very curious about the cats in her foster home but just sniffs them and walks away. Dixie listens well but is very food motivated and has to be fed separately from the other dogs because she tries to eat everyone’s food. Dixie walks very well on a leash and will be an exceptional family pet. Running through the house and playing with her toys and the other dog is by far Kolby’s favorite thing to do throughout the day. When she tires out she goes right back into her playpen and naps for a few hours before starting the cycle all over again.
She does really well in her crate and spends the night in it. As long as she uses the facilities in the backyard she has no accidents inside. If she needs to go while she is inside she will use the pee-pads.
Kolby loves the backyard and enjoys playing fetch. She will fetch a ball or even a stick will do. She is slowly learning the part where she needs to bring back the ball and “drop” but that is something she will pickup very easily.
She loves to give you kisses and will snuggle up with you at any time of the day. But when she is tired she likes to be in her crate or playpen or sleeping on your lap

It did take her a while to warm up to me after her trip here from the shelter, but once she learned that she could trust me, she hasn't looked back. She loves to snuggle and give kisses. Kiki is a 10 week old female (Terrier (x) Chihuahua) that gets along really well with other puppies and full grown dogs. Today Kiki is living at her foster home with her sister Kolby and an adult dog and they all get along really well with each other.Kiki is also great with people, young and old alike. She warms up instantly to people and gets extremely excited when she sees you.
Running through the house and play fighting with Kolby (sister) is by far Kiki’s favorite thing to do through the day. When she tires out she goes right back into her playpen and snuggles with her puppy friend and takes long naps before starting the cycle all over again.
She loves all her meals and is very food motivated so further training Kiki will be easy. She is already showing signs of an obedient and a trainable pup. She uses the pee-pad if she needs to go while she is in the house. Otherwise she does all her business in the backyard. Each time she uses the pad or the yard she is treated with goodies.
Kiki loves the backyard and enjoys playing fetch. She will fetch a ball or even a stick will do. She is slowly learning the part where she needs to bring back the ball and “drop” but that is something she will pickup very easily.
She loves to give you kisses and will snuggle up with you at any time of the day. But when she is tired she likes to be in her crate or playpen

Sugarplum was abandoned in Curtis Bay Industrial Park. A UPS driver noticed a dog in need back in November. Upon with talking with people, we learned she has been living and surviving on her own since March. Sugarplum came to us with 3 pups, after we located her pups with a thermal drone, she was trapped.
Sugarplum came to her foster parents being very unsure of people and her surroundings. She was an excellent mother to her puppies. She was a protective mom but the puppies were the easiest and best puppies that her fosters have ever raised. Her puppies are now adopted and doing well.
Sugarplum has been a easy foster when it comes to crate training, housebreaking and basic manners. Sugarplum does have a high prey drive, but she listens well to commands but not ready to be trusted off leash. She lives with 3 fosters sister dogs and a foster brother dog. She plays wells with them even when they have gotten too rough.
She loves her foster parents and she is still learning to trust new people. She loves to snuggle, car rides, walks, chewing her bones, playing ball, doing zoomies in the backyard, looking out the bay window but best of all she likes to watch everything her humans are doing!

Chochi is a 6-year-old Shih Tzu. He came into the animal shelter as a stray and was transferred to Double Dog Dare Rescue. Chochi is a sweet loving boy but very fearful and skittish. If he gets scared he will growl and even nips. He would do best in a home with one person and no other pets. Chochi loves to go for walks and does exceptionally well on a leash and is house-trained. Chochi hates his crate but once in he sleeps all night without a peep. As his foster, I have found him to be very dedicated to me. He follows me wherever I go. This boy is a GEM!! Meet Max! Max is an approximately 1.5 year old neutered retriever mix from WV. Max only weighs around 45 lbs now but could definitely stand to gain a few! Max is already neutered and housebroken! Max is a little anxious around new people and new situations, but once he warms up he is a huge snuggle bug! He tries to lay in your lap he wants to be so close to his person. Max is not a huge fan of the crate due to some past bad experiences, but after a little bit of protesting he settles down well. With some time and making sure he knows the crate is a nice space, he should do fine. Alta is the sweetest 2-year-old beagle mix you could ever meet. She came to the rescue in 2021 with her 6 puppies. She was adopted but recently returned because her family could no longer care for her. Alta originally came into the rescue as Heartworm (HW) and Lyme positive but received treatment and is now HW negative. She will need to be kept on HW preventative for the remainder of her life. She has continued to test positive for Lyme disease but is not displaying any symptoms. Alta is house and crate trained. She walks well on a leash but that beagle nose makes her stubborn at times. CJ is an 11 lb ., 4 month old mixed breed puppy. His parents were 28 & 24 lbs so he likely will stay fairly small. CJ is a very active boy that loves to play. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. He is learning to walk on a leash but is slow to enjoy the walk. He doesn’t like the cold or wet ground. He is working on his house manners but hasn’t completely mastered going potty outside yet. He does use pee pads inside though. He hates his crate and cries at night but we are still working on that and there has been improvement. He has some separation anxiety and is slow to warm up to strangers. It is best to approach slowly or let CJ do the approaching. He is not particularly fond of small children, he growls when they come near him. They jump around too much and scare him. Sunny aka Sunny Sunshine is a 7 year old chiweenie weighing 9 lbs. Sunny is a fearful little girl. She came from a hoarding situation where she lived primarily in her crate. She was never socialized or handled by human hands (at least not gentle human hands). Sunny has made great progress in her foster home but still needs time and patience to adjust to this new world she finds herself in. Sunny will freely enter a soft cat crate for transports to her little yard and then back inside. She still has no idea why we go outside and she continues to use the pee pads inside. Sunny would shrink away anytime you tried to touch her when she first got here. Now she lets her foster mom touch her and give her pets. She especially likes belly rubs. Sunny does not want to be picked up so her foster mom leaves her in the soft crate and puts it on her lap and opens it up and gives her pets. Sunny has begun to get really excited when her foster Mom comes home. She leaves her crate and joins the barking dog chorus. Sunny needs a home where the adopter will be patient enough to allow very slow progression. Someone willing to love her on her terms. Winston: 3 year old Rottweiler/American Pit Bull Terrier mix. Neutered and UTD on shots. 80lbs Winston's original owners bought him in a trailer park from an "American Bulldog" breeder. He was bought during covid so a mix of bad breeding and lack of socialization led to some fear issues. He came to me last May and learned how overcome those issues. His owners were elderly and tried their best to keep up with the training but then decided it was too much for them. Winstons only issue was acting scary when someone he didn't know spooked him. After almost a year of training with me he has made almost a complete 180. He now loves people cause he learned people = food and cuddles. There will still occasionally be a person that he is unsure of so his new owner will need to learn how to read his signals and advocate for his space when he is uncomfortable. Winston knows who he can trust to keep him safe and who he can't. Winston is a love bug. He is good with dogs, cats, and humans as long as you read him and make sure introductions are positive and not forced.Kerry
