About Me

Meet Champ!! 3 month old terrier mix. Champ… Although Champ is little, he has a big personality. He enjoys the company of other dogs and is cautiously learning about cats. He is doing well on his potty training but still has a occasional accident when too busy playing. Champ can be a little nippy when over excited so homes with older children would be recommended. Champ loves his people but takes time to get to know them. He can worry a bit. Trust me he warms up and gets very sweet. He is doing great in his crate and loves playing with as many toys as he can find. Balls, stuffies, bones, tug toys you name it he is up for playing.

Karter here  I am an almost 6 month old, terrier mix. I am about 30lbs, so I don't have much more growing to do. I still need to be neutured, but the rescue will arrange that with you! I am a sweet little guy who loves making friends (human, dog, and cat!). I am housebroken, crate trained, and very smart. I would love a fenced yard, and another dog to teach me the ropes. I am still a puppy, and could use some obedience classes, but I am eager to please and ready to learn! My favorite activities are fetch, snuggling, and wandering around outside. This sweet lil fella is Gunner. Gunner is approximately 5 years old. He is a lil shy at first but once he warms up he’s wagging and wanting your attention. Gunner is quite content sitting/napping next to you on the couch. He does well with other dogs, chicken and ducks. He’s still not sure about the sheep and goat. Cats are unknown. He does well with car rides and being crated. Due to the hoarding situation he came from, it will be best to feed him separately from others, at least for now. Gunner is neutered and is working on his potty training . He is Lymes positive, but no treatment is needed at this time.

This is Socks. She is a 14 week old lab mix. She loves playing outside and snuggling inside. Socks is ready for adventure. She is doing very well on her potty habits. She only has accidents when she is playing so hard she forgets to ask to go out. Usually she will stand at the door and let you know. She sleeps great in her crate and will tell you if she needs to potty at night. Socks is food motivated and this helps a lot with training. She loves other dogs and is learning what cats are. She is super curious but respectful.

Meet Axel(M) Anastasia (F) and Aspen (M). These 3 puppies are 11 weeks old and are ready to go to their forever homes! They are crate trained and working on potty training. They are expected to be medium sized when full grown. Axel: Axel is the most independent of the 3 pups. He does well with other dogs but is perfectly fine to go exploring on his own. While he is crate trained, he is not the biggest fan of the crate. Anastasia: Anastasia is the smallest of the three and has the most spunk. When she isn’t wrestling with her brothers she likes to be in your lap covering you with kisses. Aspen: Aspen is a bit more cautious than his siblings. He is happy to explore and experience new things, but he likes to have another pup by his side. He likes humans but he especially loves other dogs.

Otis is the most amazing 5 year old Beagle. He is neutered, house broken and an all around happy guy. Otis is currently fostered with younger children and a beagle just like him. In Otis's life before DDDR he had torn his ACL. It healed on its own and only causes him trouble when he has had a hard day of playing. Our vet has recommended joint supplements such as Dasuquin for now. At some point in his lifetime, he may require surgery. Otis loves companionship and would do best in a home with another dog. I’m a 1 year old, 50 lb mixed breed, originally from Louisiana but recently returned to the rescue due to unfortunate life circumstances that led my people to have to make the heartbreaking decision to rehome me. Meet Koa!!! This boy is an absolute gem! He is a 10 month old, 62lb (pretty much full grown), Hound mix. He is up to date on vaccines, neutered, completely house-trained, and microchipped. Koa is dog friendly (takes a moment to warm up)— loves to run around the backyard with his current foster brothers but can also be very independent. He has lived with cats and is uninterested in them. The crate is not his favorite place to be but he does eventually settle especially with a (safe) yummy treat. He walks well on a leash and is great in the car! Koa loves toys, the squeakier the better!! He is one of the calmest puppies we’ve ever fostered. He sleeps through the night (out of the crate) and has been trustworthy. He settles easily and is happy to be hanging on the couch watching TV with you. This beautiful girl is Charlie and she is a 3 yr old, spayed, female, 50 lb shepherd mix. She is crate-trained, potty-trained, non-destructive, and walks well on a leash. Charlie loves people and is up for anything. She loves going for adventures (hikes, walks, runs) but is also perfectly content to laze the day away by your side. Because of her love of adventuring, she will need a securely fenced yard, or to be kept on a leash outside. Charlie loves puppies but can be slow to warm up with adult dogs. She can get along with other adult dogs with time but would do best as the only dog in the household. Cats are not recommended.

She is an 8 year old French Bulldog with absolutely no flaws....she's housebroken, quiet, LOVES everyone, gets along great with other dogs ( but she does like to be the center of attention). She is up to date on shots. Lady has a very slight heart murmur. Currently, she requires no medication for this. She has plenty of energy and likes to run with other dogs. IT’S SO FLUFFY!!!! Well, they are. These little fluff balls are our little “fighters”: Ali (female), Creed (Male), and Tyson (Male). When they were born their mother attacked them due to stress. As such they were seperated from her and have been bottle fed from one-day old. They are now 6-weeks old and are available for pre-adoption. They will be able to go home 4/24, once they are 8 weeks old. They are currently 5 lbs. Based mom and dad we expect them to be around 90lbs full grown. They are half german shepard and half herding breed (our guess being australian shepard). They will be shedders and will need regular grooming

Toby is believed to be a Catahoula mix. He is a handsome, young, under 2 according to the vet, Brindle colored boy. He is crate-trained and leash-trained. He is dog selective but with a little patience and a slow introduction he does very well. He was heartworm positive but has been through treatment for it in addition to being neutered. He is energetic and very playful. He loves challenging toys, treats, exploring new places, and enjoys attention. He will be the perfect furbaby for someone who has time to allow him to adjust slowly to his new home.

Meet “smiley” Kylee!!! This sweet girl is a high spirited love bug. She is a 1yr old, 40lb-ish (still needs to gain a bit more weight) Hound/Lab/Pointer mix. She is up to date on vaccines, completely house-trained, and microchipped. Kylee still needs to be spayed which is financially taken care of by the Rescue. Kylee is dog friendly and loves to run around the backyard with her current foster brothers. She would do well in a forever home with another dog or can also be an “only dog” because of how much she loves “her people”. She is a bit of a jumper (we are working on better manners) so a family with older children would be better. She is very eager to please and being food motivated is a plus with training. Unconditional love and devotion is the best way to describe this girl. She was found in Louisiana completely emaciated but still smiled and wagged her tail gratefully while eating her much needed meal. The crate is not her favorite place to be but she does eventually settle especially with a (safe) yummy treat. She is great in the car and is getting better with leash walking but will need more practice as she is just so happy and excited for walks. Kylee LOVES toys, the squeakier the better!! Seeing her with toys and playing is so heartwarming when knowing her very tough beginning. Meet Dixie, a stunning beagle/chihuahua/maybe dachshund mix weighing in at 26 lbs. She has a loving and very sweet temperament. She loves everyone she meets especially small children. Dixie is approximately 2 years old and is spayed, housebroken and crate trained. Once Dixie gets settled and comfy in her new environment she is very playful and attaches herself quickly to her caregiver. She is truly a lap dog! Dixie came to the rescue with an old injury to her left rear leg. The injury has healed but left her with a limp. She was taken to the rescues vet who determined she was not in any pain and could function fine without further treatment. Dixie gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home, always running and playing with them. She does, however want to be the dominant pouch. She is very curious about the cats in her foster home but just sniffs them and walks away. Dixie listens well but is very food motivated and has to be fed separately from the other dogs because she tries to eat everyone’s food. Dixie walks very well on a leash and will be an exceptional family pet. When you leave me alone I will find my bed and rest up, when you come back it’s a huge celebration of dancing and singing. Chochi is a 6-year-old Shih Tzu. He came into the animal shelter as a stray and was transferred to Double Dog Dare Rescue. Chochi is a sweet loving boy but very fearful and skittish. If he gets scared he will growl and even nips. He would do best in a home with one person and no other pets. Chochi loves to go for walks and does exceptionally well on a leash and is house-trained. Chochi hates his crate but once in he sleeps all night without a peep. As his foster, I have found him to be very dedicated to me. He follows me wherever I go. Kiki is also great with people, young and old alike. She warms up instantly to people and gets extremely excited when she sees you.
Running through the house and play fighting with Kolby (sister) is by far Kiki’s favorite thing to do through the day. When she tires out she goes right back into her playpen and snuggles with her puppy friend and takes long naps before starting the cycle all over again.
She loves all her meals and is very food motivated so further training Kiki will be easy. She is already showing signs of an obedient and a trainable pup. She uses the pee-pad if she needs to go while she is in the house. Otherwise she does all her business in the backyard. Each time she uses the pad or the yard she is treated with goodies.
Kiki loves the backyard and enjoys playing fetch. She will fetch a ball or even a stick will do. She is slowly learning the part where she needs to bring back the ball and “drop” but that is something she will pickup very easily.
She loves to give you kisses and will snuggle up with you at any time of the day. But when she is tired she likes to be in her crate or playpen

Faith is a small mixed-breed dog between 7-10 months old. Currently weighing around 27 pounds. It did take her a while to warm up to me after her trip here from the shelter, but once she learned that she could trust me, she hasn't looked back. She loves to snuggle and give kisses. She has two larger dogs that she plays with nonstop. If she isn't taking a nap, they are playing together. She loves to run and boy is she quick! I feel a fenced-in yard or a very large yard would be best for her. We currently have her on the 26-foot retractable leash and she wants to run further than that will allow. Meet Hank!!! Aka Hank the Tank, Hanky Panky, and Stanky Hanky. Hank is a 13 week old Hound mix - any other guesses? He arrived in Maryland last week from Louisiana. He is working hard with potty training. Hank is very food motivated which is helpful with puppy training. He is curious of cats but not aggressive, loves people and other dogs. The crate is not his favorite place—he tends to protest but does eventually settle. He loves toys but have found his favorite things are empty water bottles (loves the crunchy sound and chasing them as they roll) and rawhide alternative chew sticks— the crate is not so bad with one of those! Hank is a very active puppy who will in turn need a very active adopter/family to help burn his energy and redirect certain behaviors (normal puppy silliness). Hank was a bottle fed baby so he will suck on your finger to settle himself (Trust me - it’s adorable ) He is vaccinated appropriate to his age. Winston: 3 year old Rottweiler/American Pit Bull Terrier mix. Neutered and UTD on shots. 80lbs Winston's original owners bought him in a trailer park from an "American Bulldog" breeder. He was bought during covid so a mix of bad breeding and lack of socialization led to some fear issues. He came to me last May and learned how overcome those issues. His owners were elderly and tried their best to keep up with the training but then decided it was too much for them. Winstons only issue was acting scary when someone he didn't know spooked him. After almost a year of training with me he has made almost a complete 180. He now loves people cause he learned people = food and cuddles. There will still occasionally be a person that he is unsure of so his new owner will need to learn how to read his signals and advocate for his space when he is uncomfortable. Meet Gabby a sweet and lovable spayed Boston terrier. Gabby is around 18 months to 2 years old and weighs 24 lbs. She is mostly house broken but has an occasional accident. Her foster family has not figured out her signal that she needs to go out yet. Gabby does pretty well on a leash but could use some more training. She knows sit, stay, bed. She walks into her crate when told to. She sleeps all night without a peep in her crate. For the most part Gabby gets along with the dogs in her foster home. She has been aggressive toward the little chiweenie(chihuahua/dachshund mix) a couple times. Usually because she has gotten near her foster mom, who she is already very attached to. We are working with her to help her understand this is unacceptable behavior. For this reason and because of the hoarding situation she came from, she may be better as an only dog. Very typical puppy with medium energy, doesn't bark much and communicates with cute little sounds. He is not high energy, more medium energy. Meet Booley! Booley is an approximately 1-year-old male mixed breed (English pointer mix is his foster's guess) from Louisiana! He’s a petite guy weighing only around 30 lbs, so he’s the perfect size for any home! He is THE SWEETEST boy and just soaks up love like a sponge. He even has a heart-shaped spot on his side he’s so ready for love! He’s got a bit of energy but a good walk or play in the yard would be plenty for him. He does fine in the crate after a few minutes of protesting and is doing really well with learning that potty is for outside. He loves to snuggle and will curl right up against you on the couch. He’s dog friendly and has done fine with the cat in his foster home as well. Booley did come to us with heartworms that are currently being treated by the rescue. Meet Journey! She is a 2 year old, 23 lb petite terrier mix. She made the long trek from Louisiana two months ago with a positive HW diagnosis and fresh hip (FHO) surgery. She has spent the last 30 days recovering from her treatment and will be available for adoption next weekend (4/22) pending a follow-up heartworm test. She has been a joy to have since day 1, getting along with her older foster brothers and being completely house and crate trained. She is a low rider so perhaps not the best trail hiker but loves to play with bones, stuffies and balls and is the absolute best couch cuddler you could ask for. She has done wonderful putting weight on all fours while walking but will pick up her ‘special’ leg when she gets excited and runs which has become an endearing characteristic. This boy is a GEM!! Meet Max! Max is an approximately 1.5 year old neutered retriever mix from WV. Max only weighs around 45 lbs now but could definitely stand to gain a few! Max is already neutered and housebroken! Max is a little anxious around new people and new situations, but once he warms up he is a huge snuggle bug! He tries to lay in your lap he wants to be so close to his person. Max is not a huge fan of the crate due to some past bad experiences, but after a little bit of protesting he settles down well. With some time and making sure he knows the crate is a nice space, he should do fine. Kolby is an 10-week old female (Terrier (x) Chihuahua) that loves to cuddle with you and can spend hours snuggling in your lap. She loves to play both inside and out. Today Kolby is living at her foster home with her sister Kiki another adult dog and they all get along really well with each other.
Kolby is also great with people, young and old alike. She warms up instantly to people and gets extremely excited when she sees you.
Running through the house and playing with her toys and the other dog is by far Kolby’s favorite thing to do throughout the day. When she tires out she goes right back into her playpen and naps for a few hours before starting the cycle all over again.
She does really well in her crate and spends the night in it. As long as she uses the facilities in the backyard she has no accidents inside. If she needs to go while she is inside she will use the pee-pads.
Kolby loves the backyard and enjoys playing fetch. She will fetch a ball or even a stick will do. She is slowly learning the part where she needs to bring back the ball and “drop” but that is something she will pickup very easily.

Sugarplum was abandoned in Curtis Bay Industrial Park. A UPS driver noticed a dog in need back in November. Upon with talking with people, we learned she has been living and surviving on her own since March. Sugarplum came to us with 3 pups, after we located her pups with a thermal drone, she was trapped.
Sugarplum came to her foster parents being very unsure of people and her surroundings. She was an excellent mother to her puppies. She was a protective mom but the puppies were the easiest and best puppies that her fosters have ever raised. Her puppies are now adopted and doing well.
Sugarplum has been a easy foster when it comes to crate training, housebreaking and basic manners. Sugarplum does have a high prey drive, but she listens well to commands but not ready to be trusted off leash. She lives with 3 fosters sister dogs and a foster brother dog. She plays wells with them even when they have gotten too rough.
She loves her foster parents and she is still learning to trust new people. She loves to snuggle, car rides, walks, chewing her bones, playing ball, doing zoomies in the backyard, looking out the bay window but best of all she likes to watch everything her humans are doing!

She came to us at 4 weeks with a mom that was very sick and could not feed them. She and her siblings were bottle fed. About Me

Alta is the sweetest 2-year-old beagle mix you could ever meet. She came to the rescue in 2021 with her 6 puppies. She was adopted but recently returned because her family could no longer care for her. Alta originally came into the rescue as Heartworm (HW) and Lyme positive but received treatment and is now HW negative. She will need to be kept on HW preventative for the remainder of her life. She has continued to test positive for Lyme disease but is not displaying any symptoms. Alta is house and crate trained. She walks well on a leash but that beagle nose makes her stubborn at times. If something catches her eye or nose, she will go after it. The person at the end of her leash needs to be prepared or could easily be knocked off their feet. Alta loves other dogs and children. She is very interested in the cats in her foster home but so far has not shown any aggression toward them. Alta’s favorite pass time is sitting on your lap getting pets. CJ is an 11 lb ., 4 month old mixed breed puppy. His parents were 28 & 24 lbs so he likely will stay fairly small. CJ is a very active boy that loves to play. He gets along well with the other dogs in his foster home. He is learning to walk on a leash but is slow to enjoy the walk. He doesn’t like the cold or wet ground. He is working on his house manners but hasn’t completely mastered going potty outside yet. He does use pee pads inside though. He hates his crate and cries at night but we are still working on that and there has been improvement. He has some separation anxiety and is slow to warm up to strangers. It is best to approach slowly or let CJ do the approaching. He is not particularly fond of small children, he growls when they come near him. They jump around too much and scare him. She looks to be an Aussie Shepherd her foster momma believes. She’s a little timid when new people walk toward her but warms up quickly! After a few short days, Sassy quickly declared to her foster momma that her Love Language is physical touch! She absolutely loves physical affection and she’s not afraid to climb all over you and demand all your love. Sassy has been living with two other dogs at her foster home and she does well with them. She hasn’t completely submerged into playing with them, but she does watch them play as she sits by her foster mom’s side. Sassy is typically a very happy girl! Meet Joel!!! Joel is a 13 week old Hound/Boxer/Lab mix. He arrived in Maryland last week with his litter from an at capacity shelter in West Virginia. He is working hard with potty training. He is very food motivated which is helpful with puppy training. Joel is curious of cats but not aggressive, loves kids, and other dogs. The crate is not his favorite place to be but he does eventually settle. He loves squeaky toys and stuffies and carries some around that are bigger than him!! Meet KRASH!! This sweet approximately 8 month old neutered terrier mix made his way all the way from Louisiana to find his forever family. Krash is about 35 lbs right now. This sweet guy is still a puppy, so he has some puppy energy, but he is able to settle as well. He loves his dog foster brother Eugene (also available for adoption) and they have a blast wrestling until exhaustion. He’s doing great with his potty training and he does fine in his crate after some initial complaint.
